Most commonly referred to as 'Spider Plant' because of the flower spikes sent out that later develop into little 'spiders' (clones of the original plant). The native range of this species is W. Tropical Africa to Cameroon, Ethiopia to S. Africa. It is a perennial and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome. It is has environmental uses and social uses, as a medicine and for food.
