The leaves look like turtles if you close your eyes almost all the way. Maybe a really fat turtle that can't swim well. The bumble bee of turtles.

These plants put out weird flower spikes every now and then that look like tentacles of some sort. 'Prostrata' refers to the plant growing prostrate (not prostate, don't be fooled), or close to the ground and low lying. They love very bright light and hate being overwatered. A terrarium would be a fantastic use of these plants as a groundcover or sporadic, close-growing climber.

The native range of this species is Ecuador. It is an epiphyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.
